Scott is co-founder of Black Iron and CEO. Scott is a Journeyman Millwright with 20 years of rotating and process equipment experience with a variety of major oil and gas companies. During his experience in the field, Scott was involved with facility construction, consulting and a variety of positions overseeing major oil and gas projects. Scott most recently managed a successful parts and service business who, under Scott’s management, revenue doubled annually. It was during this time Scott was exposed to the surplus equipment market where he saw a new opportunity. Scott’s industry experience and entrepreneurial spirit lead him to co-found Black Iron and raise the bar on equipment and service delivery to our great industry.
Steve, is co-founder and COO of Black Iron. Steve is an Engineering Technologist and Project Management professional who brings progressive experience within rotating equipment packaging, retrofit and field services fields. Through his career, he has held positions with Enerflex, Brahma, NGC and Bidell where he gained extensive experience in applications engineering, manufacturing/field project design, management. Career highlights include development of a retrofit and field construction program in 2014 which grew to a 20MM/year revenue business. While managing the retrofit and field activities, Steve realized the opportunity for a new type of equipment and service provider. Steve’s keen business sense and vision for a customer focused full service equipment and services provider led him to co-found his own company, Black Iron Energy.
Kimberley Zerr is our Manager of Operations/HSE. She brings with her over 15 years’ experience in business management activities and human resources oversight, including all aspects of the human resources functions. Kimberley was employed at a large EPC company as a Senior Recruiter where she was responsible for domestic and international full cycle recruiting. Most recently she was the HR Manager for a small oilfield supply company with headquarters in the United States. There, she was responsible for all aspects of Human Resources including operations management. Kimberley’s broad business experience allowed her to successfully manage several roles including Health and Safety program development, implementation and management, recruiting, terminations, contracts, benefit management, employee relations, and US/Canadian labor laws. At Black Iron, Kimberley is involved in many areas of the business such as finance/accounting, marketing and sales leads, customer service, transportation, planning, as well as strategies and goals for the upcoming fiscal quarter/year.
Adrian Dodds, P.Eng
Adrian is a Chemical Engineer with 20+ years of experience in SAGD and conventional operations, production, power projects, and consulting. Starting on the first commercial SAGD facility and as operations manager of a smaller operation, he has overseen all aspects of the operations. While consulting he has implemented numerous facility and well modifications with surplus equipment, significantly improving schedule and cost metrics. With his knowledge of production/operations his focus on OP cost reduction has yielded annual savings of over $10MM/yr and improved facility reliability. This operating understanding combined with a cost-effective approach involves Adrian within Black Iron’s Business Development, implementation, and value add proposition.
Scott and Black Iron Energy did a great job overall. Kudos to the employees and management that they performed the work in a safe and efficient manner over the scope of the project.
